Why I Won't Be Reviewing Resident Evil 7

Self-critique is an extremely important tool in the arsenal of every person constantly seeking self-improvement. When used in moderation, it gives one honest insight into your shortcomings and weaknesses, and whether you're able to do anything about them.

While watching Resident Evil 7, it struck me: A great majority of KVR Gaming has been about sensationalism. I'm not really bothered by the content in these games. I simply report them in the juicy way they're featured in select video games, hoping to get a tonne of pageviews in the process. (Which I don't, mind you.)

Early in the game, the player character is viciously mutilated, done in such a way only to shock and without any real purpose whatsoever. Clearly this is an example of senseless violence, and me going any further with this review would be sensationalism, making this site no better than large-scale corporate media, and me being the hipster nut I am, that's a big no-no.

I need to review games with a clear heart and honest intent to consider all aspects of a game, the goods as well as the bads, instead of just focusing on all the "gory" stuff and how "evil" it is when none of us are really interested in fear-mongering articles on gaming anymore, especially since there's nothing to actually be afraid of since games are proven not to cause much negative effects in a sane, mentally stable person.

So for those looking for a review, I'll give you a brief one: It's gory, it's juicy, and you'll get what you're looking for. If you don't like mindless violence, stay away. And for once, I'm sick of it as well.

Is it because it will cause violence in society? No, because it's freaking mind-numbing, and forcing myself to review a game I'm already feeling uneasy about will be a betrayal of my conscience and what this site is about:

Listening to the still voice inside and following it's guidance, even if it may make you look uncool and hipster...which is what I currently look like to some, I'd imagine.

Still, guys, if you want to try out Resident Evil 7, don't let me stop you. It's just that I can't review it for you currently, at least until I've had a change of heart. You're more than welcome to pray for that much needed change, and maybe one day I'll be able to return to this game with neutrality and peace.

Until such time, stay safe, think twice before making a game purchase, and above all, keep the Faith.

Moving Again (AGAIN)

It's that time of that year again. A year ago I relocated, now I have to re-locate to where I relocated from.

It has been a most blessed and most difficult year, yet I'm glad for the wonderful people I've met and the opportunity to be involved in church. I'll sorely miss all the friends I've made here, but there's always a chance to visit in the near future.

As for the website, I have a couple of things "planned" as always. If you'll take a look at my review list, it should give you a taste of what's to come. Of course, if you have a game you'd like reviewed and don't see it on the list, feel free to comment and we'll see how we can fit it in.

Thanks for tuning in. Have a great week ahead. I'll see you again shortly with another review, here on KVR Gaming.

God bless.
