What We Believe Part 4 (Spiritual Content)

Hello again everyone. Pardon the lateness of this post. I was enjoying my newfound hunger for gaming so much yesterday that I clean forgot to actually do something constructive with it. Nevertheless, here I am.

We're not going to go into much detail in this post, simply because of time constraints. I'll go into a little detail on my family history and past in order to explain my beliefs and then conclude the post with my thoughts on how Christians should handle spiritual content in games.

While not ever involved in the occult myself, my family history is rich with it. My father grew up in a polytheistic household in his youth, with religious texts ranging from the Quran, Bhagavad Gita, and yes, even the Bible. New Age ideas and Hindu philosophy was common in this household, as well as occultic practices.

When I say "occultic practices", I mean anything done in order to achieve a spiritual effect through ritualistic means. Were they successful? Yes. And that's all I'll say.

The occult relies on a bloodline in order to have a connection. For one to achieve any kind of spiritual power, you need generations of history with the rituals in order to for the practices to work. My family's history goes back a couple of generations, so the occult is a very real and dangerous concept for myself and immediate family.

The spiritual realm is real. It doesn't matter if you've never experienced it yourself, it does exist and its effects are extremely prevalent in our lives. I've never been involved in the occult, as practicing it is explicitly forbidden in the Word of God. Jesus is the only way to a "higher plane of existence". He is the only way to the Father and Eternal Life. None of man's ways can ever achieve that, it is purely through His grace that we are saved.

That in mind, even with having an occultic bloodline, does spiritual content in games tap into that and allow you to make contact with the demonic realm?

Nah. While it may hinder your walk with God if you had a prior involvement in the occult (or any kind of other spiritual practice out of line with God's Word), video games hardly have an effect on one's spiritual sense.

As my entire website consistently reminds people (or tries to at least), it's all about your relationship with Jesus and how gaming affects that. If you feel that the content in specific video game is detrimental in that regard, then it's at your discretion on how to handle it.

Be aware of spiritual content in games, sure, because what your children see will make a different impact than an adult. They need to be taught from a young age what the right path is and to follow it. (Proverbs 22:6)

Thanks for tuning in. I hope this post was helpful. I'll see you guys next time, with another review.

Enjoy!
